UHMW is an exceptionally tough, and economical material with tremendous wear properties. It also carries superior impact properties and will not break under Izod impact testing. It has excellent
chemical resistance to organic solvents and a very low water absorbtion rate. UHMW is easily machined, is self-lubricating and has a high dielectric strength, but only moderate compressive strength.
